A craft that has been around for over 3,500 years!
Although our world has a rich history of Blacksmithing it's not something you see much of anymore. After the industrial revolution, the need for your neighborhood Blacksmith pretty much went away. What used to be an absolute necessity in everyday life quickly became a legend only spoke of in medieval tales. However, the passion for working hot steel could never leave some of us alone and there has been a new life breathed into the art and a resurgence of the ancient craft has emerged once again!
Fire and hot metal... how could you NOT love that!? To be able to take a cold and hard piece of steel – heat it up in a forge, and then hammer it on an anvil into a new shape... is satisfying in a very primal way. The danger, risk, hard work, and creativity involved is like no other form of art.
With such techy, sterile, and screen filled lives, it's vital for us to separate ourselves from time to time and get dirty.
My forge
Because I'm an artist who enjoys many forms and mediums of expression my forge is geared mostly towards artistic blacksmithing. I make a huge variety of things ranging from knives and hatchets to bottle openers and house decor to sculptures! The sky is the limit what you can make so experimenting and sharing this art with other people and giving them opportunities to try new things is my passion.
However, when you come for a visit you'll see that my forge is a part of something much larger!
My shop is called "The Shefa Shop" because it's where all the magic happens and the shefa flows. You'll see woodworking, stone carving, furniture, jewelry, home decor, paintings, pottery and much more!
